Dr Shivadas Sivasubramaniam

Dr Sivasubramaniam is the Head of Biomedical and Forensic Science in University of Derby.  Before joining this university in August 2018, Dr Sivasubramaniam held principal lecturer position for 22 years at another UK higher education institution. His research expertise includes placental pharmacology and integrity sciences focusing on medical ethics. He is one of the few academics who pursue research and research-informed teaching in both medical sciences and pedagogic developments. His scientific research delves into the impact of environmental and nutritional factors on early trophoblast invasion and its connection to pregnancy-related disorders. His case-study based approach of teaching medical ethics have been adopted by several academics around the world.

As the head, he is keen to enhance student engagement, academic integrity, and adopt methods to minimise the misuse of artificial intelligence amongst students and academics. He is proud to be a founding member of the European Network of Academic Integrity (ENAI), which promotes integrity across academia and collaborates on research in this area.

Dr Sonja Bjelobaba

Sonja Bjelobaba serves as a researcher and project manager at the Centre for Research Ethics & Bioethics, where she is involved in the project Research Ethics Courses. Additionally, she holds the position of Senior Lecturer in Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian at the Department of Modern Languages within Uppsala University. Sonja Bjelobaba is also the vice-president of the European Network for Academic Integrity (ENAI) and acts as the coordinator for the Erasmus+ strategic partnership project Bridging Integrity in Higher Education, Business, and Society (BRIDGE, 2020-2023). Her academic journey includes defending her thesis at the University of Gothenburg, where she also worked as an educational developer. In this role, she taught courses on research integrity, postgraduate supervision, and other subjects related to teaching and learning in higher education. Sonja Bjelobaba's research focuses on academic integrity and research ethics in both the Balkans and Sweden.
