About Us

Global Education,  Local Values: A Regional Dialogue on Academic and Research Integrity

AMEA as a region is an emerging market for global, world-class international education and research. In recognition of this, colleagues from the Centre for Academic Integrity at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Türkiye, in partnership with the University of Wollongong in Dubai, the ENAI WG Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE, the Centre for Academic Integrity Pakistan, and King Fahd Medical City, Riyadh 2nd Health Cluster, Saudi Arabia, have come together to form a collaborative regional initiative—AMEA Integrity—to holistically support students, staff, and academic communities across the region.

As part of this joint effort, we launched the first regional conference on academic and research integrity, ACARI 2023, in Dubai, UAE. With a local organising team from the United Arab Emirates and invited colleagues from Chitkara University (India), Kuwait University (Kuwait), Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Science & Technology University (Bangladesh), and the University of Calgary in Qatar, ACARI 2023 brought together leaders, educators, practitioners, and researchers to foster a shared culture of integrity across educational campuses in the region.

Following its success, the second edition—ACARI 2025—was hosted in Pakistan, expanding on the foundational work of the inaugural event. ACARI 2025 built deeper regional partnerships and further amplified discussions around ethical academic practices, responsible research, and institutional integrity frameworks, reflecting the region’s growing commitment to building a sustainable and principled academic ecosystem.

Together, these conferences mark the ongoing journey of AMEA Integrity in shaping a region-wide dialogue on academic and research integrity.

Academic and Research Integrity

Academic Integrity is the foundation on which all of academia stands. It is in schools, classrooms, in corridors and canteens that students, the future citizens of the world, gather an understanding of what is right and what is wrong, what is meant by integrity, being truthful, responsible, and respectful. It is here that they develop life skills of honesty and fairness and take them into the real world and as members of the greater community, practicing these skills in their everyday lives and at their workplaces.

Ensuring and upholding integrity in education provides for a sustainable, constructive future, a platform that fosters, encourages and celebrates innovation and contributes to happy individuals, happy workplaces and a happy society.

​

Research is crucial to any area or discipline to develop better understanding of current issues, challenges, and barriers, to discover novel approaches to solving problems, addressing issues and finding new ways to overcome challenges and barriers. Research done right, with the right approach, right methodology, to ensure the results are reliable and repeatable, thus making them valuable. It then becomes imperative that research is conducted with transparency, honesty, responsibility, and respect for the participants (human or animals) and the data, in other words with integrity.
